MG Motor has unveiled the updated version of its HS medium SUV, set to rival popular models like the Toyota RAV4 in the Australian market. The new HS, based on SAIC’s Roewe RX5 platform, features distinctive styling elements unique to MG, including a redesigned front fascia and interior upgrades.
Measuring slightly larger than its predecessor, the new HS boasts increased dimensions in length, width, and wheelbase, offering more interior space and a larger cargo capacity. The SUV is expected to hit Australian showrooms by the end of the year, providing consumers with both petrol and plug-in hybrid engine options.
While specific pricing and features are yet to be disclosed, reports suggest that the HS will come equipped with a range of advanced technologies and amenities. These may include LED headlights, dual 12.3-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment, smartphone integration, built-in navigation, and a host of driver-assist systems.
Optional upgrades for the HS are rumored to include larger alloy wheels, a comprehensive camera system, power-adjustable seats, keyless entry, and various comfort features. Giles Belcher, MG Motor Australia’s chief commercial officer, expressed optimism about the new HS model’s potential to build on the brand’s success and meet evolving consumer expectations. Despite a recent decline in sales for the HS, MG aims to reinvigorate interest with the updated version, emphasizing innovation and versatility.
