The Kia Cerato has been succeeded by the new K4, which has been launched in Australia as a sedan first, with a hatchback version set to follow later this year. The K4 comes with several upgrades compared to its predecessor, including more standard equipment, a larger body, and a new production location in Mexico. The pricing for the K4 sedan ranges from $30,590 to $42,990 before on-road costs, marking a significant increase over the outgoing Cerato.
The entry-level K4 S now starts at $30,590, which is $3530 more expensive than the base Cerato. The top-of-the-range K4 GT-Line sees the largest price hike of $6130 over the Cerato GT. Despite the price increases, the K4 remains competitive in its segment, offering more features and improvements across all variants.
All K4 variants come with a 2.0-liter non-turbo engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The K4 GT-Line features a 1.6-liter turbo engine, delivering 142kW and 265Nm of torque. The sedan boasts a combined fuel consumption rate of 6.7L/100km, showcasing improved efficiency over its predecessor.
The K4 offers a range of new standard features, including a larger infotainment touchscreen, advanced safety technologies, and the Kia Connect telematics system for enhanced connectivity. The sedan’s dimensions have also been increased, providing more rear legroom and overall space compared to the Cerato.
Kia’s decision to transition from Cerato to K4 aligns with its global naming convention for passenger cars, joining other models like the K3, K5, K8, and K9. The K4 aims to deliver a more refined driving experience while maintaining Kia’s reputation for quality and reliability.
While the K4 sedan has already been introduced in Australia, the hatchback version is expected to arrive later this year. Both variants are set to offer customers a modern and feature-packed driving experience, catering to a wide range of preferences and needs in the small car market.
With the K4’s arrival, Kia continues to strengthen its position in the automotive industry, offering consumers a compelling choice in the competitive small car segment. The K4’s blend of style, performance, and technology underscores Kia’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
