Kia has made significant changes to its lineup, revamping the Kia Picanto and Kia XCeed ranges while bidding farewell to the Kia Ceed model. The shift reflects Kia’s commitment to both its electric vehicle future and its internal combustion engine offerings, ensuring a well-rounded product portfolio.
The latest updates see the introduction of new trim levels for the Picanto and XCeed, aligning them more closely with the trim options available for Kia’s electric vehicles. The Picanto now offers a single engine choice – a 1.0-litre petrol engine with 67bhp, paired with either a five-speed manual or automated manual transmission across all trim levels.
Trim levels for the Picanto have been streamlined to ‘Pure’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’, with each level offering a distinct set of features. Additionally, a new paint option in Yacht Blue is available for the GT-Line and GT-Line S models, adding a touch of customization to the lineup.
Pricing for the new Kia Picanto starts at £16,695 for the base ‘Pure’ model and goes up to £20,245 for the range-topping GT-Line S variant equipped with an automated manual transmission.
Meanwhile, the XCeed range has also undergone enhancements, with the ‘Pure’ trim level now offering more features compared to its predecessor. The 1.5-litre turbo engine has been replaced by a more efficient 1.0-litre T-GDI engine, delivering up to 113bhp.
For those seeking more power, the GT-Line S models come with a new 1.6-litre T-GDI engine producing 177bhp, available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT transmission. The XCeed lineup now starts at £25,165 for the ‘Pure’ model and goes up to £33,125 for the GT-Line S variant with the higher-powered engine.
Notably, Kia has removed the Kia Ceed from its UK website, signaling the imminent arrival of the Hatch version of the new Kia K4 later this year. This move reflects Kia’s strategic shift in its product offerings and aligns with evolving market demands and trends.
Overall, Kia’s decision to revamp its lineup demonstrates its commitment to staying competitive in the automotive market, catering to a diverse range of customer preferences and technological advancements. With a focus on both electric and traditional combustion engine vehicles, Kia is poised to meet the evolving needs of consumers while maintaining its position as a key player in the industry.
