Haupt Racing Team and Ford Performance are gearing up for a significant challenge as they prepare to compete in consecutive 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa. The German team, in collaboration with Ford, will field a total of five cars across the N24 and CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. This includes the debut of the Ford Mustang GT3 at the N24 with a three-car entry, as well as a two-car entry at the 24H Spa.
Ulrich Fritz, CEO of HRT Ford Performance, highlighted that these five cars represent a substantial portion of HRT’s fleet, which is strategically rotated across various championships. In addition to the Nürburgring and GT World Challenge Europe programs, HRT Ford Performance competes in DTM and ADAC GT Masters, allocating resources to different events as needed.
Emphasizing the logistical complexity of the upcoming double header, Fritz explained that separate teams have been designated for each race, with distinct sets of mechanics and support staff. While the engineers remain consistent, the operational focus shifts to cater to the specific demands of each competition.
Despite the immense undertaking ahead, Fritz expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness for the challenge. The rigorous schedule of back-to-back races necessitates meticulous planning and coordination to ensure that all aspects of the operation run smoothly.
Supporting HRT’s endeavors are Ford’s engineering resources and spare parts network, crucial for maintaining the performance and reliability of the cars throughout the grueling endurance races. Alex Allmandinger, Ford Performance’s global sports car manager, highlighted the intricate logistics involved in supplying and managing spare parts for such demanding events.
On the engineering front, Ford Performance has deployed a dedicated team of engineers who travel between events to provide technical support and expertise. The collaboration with partners like Multimatic and M-Sport enhances the team’s capabilities, enabling continuous development and learning opportunities.
As HRT and Ford Performance gear up for the N24 and 24H Spa double header, the focus remains on meticulous preparation, strategic allocation of resources, and effective teamwork to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. With a shared commitment to excellence and performance, the collaboration between Haupt Racing Team and Ford underscores a dedication to pushing the boundaries of endurance racing.
As the motorsport world eagerly anticipates the outcome of these high-stakes races, the efforts of HRT and Ford Performance serve as a testament to the relentless pursuit of success in the competitive arena of endurance racing.
