GWM Unveils 2025 Haval H6 SUV with PHEV Option

GWM has confirmed the arrival of its updated Haval H6 family SUV in Australian showrooms in the second quarter of 2025. While a plug-in hybrid powertrain has not been confirmed, the related Haval H6 GT is set to offer a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) option to compete with other models in the market.

Even without the plug-in variant, the new Haval H6 will undergo substantial changes, featuring an updated exterior design and new in-cabin technologies. The mid-size SUV is positioned as a competitor to popular models like the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson.

The 2025 version of the Haval H6 boasts enhancements such as sharper headlights with vertical daytime running lights, a larger front grille, and an increased lower bumper intake. Inside, the SUV will feature a redesigned steering wheel, center console area, and an upgraded infotainment system running the brand’s latest software.

While the exact specifications are yet to be confirmed, the new Haval H6 is expected to come with a 2.0-liter petrol engine. Additionally, a hybrid option is in the works, with the potential for a PHEV powertrain that offers impressive performance figures, including an all-electric driving range of 83km based on Chinese testing standards.

Buyers looking for a plug-in hybrid GWM-branded mid-size SUV in the near future can turn to the sportier-looking H6 GT model, set to be equipped with advanced technology including a “pure EV driving range of up to 180km” thanks to a 35.4kWh battery pack.

As GWM prepares to release pricing and specifications for the updated H6 and new H6 GT PHEV closer to launch, the industry is abuzz with anticipation for the arrival of these refreshed models. The introduction of plug-in hybrid options reflects the growing trend towards electrification in the automotive market.

With the automotive industry increasingly shifting towards sustainable practices, the emergence of plug-in hybrid models like the updated Haval H6 signals a step towards a greener future. Consumers are becoming more conscious of their environmental impact, driving demand for eco-friendly vehicle options.

As GWM continues to innovate and expand its product lineup, the introduction of plug-in hybrid technology in the Haval H6 demonstrates the brand’s commitment to meeting evolving consumer preferences and regulatory standards. The competitive landscape in the mid-size SUV segment is evolving rapidly, with manufacturers striving to offer advanced features and eco-friendly options to attract discerning buyers.
