Ford Australia has unveiled the pricing and details for its upcoming Ranger PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), set to hit local dealerships by mid-2025. The Ranger PHEV lineup starts at $71,990 and goes up to $86,990, offering four variants: XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, and the limited-edition Stormtrak. These models feature a combination of a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a 75kW electric motor powered by an 11.8kWh battery.
With a combined output of 207kW/697Nm, the Ranger PHEV boasts a range of driving modes such as Auto, EV Now, EV Later, and EV Charge. It also includes regenerative braking for enhanced efficiency. The vehicle can carry up to 973kg of payload and tow up to 3500kg, making it a versatile option for work or leisure.
One of the standout features of the Ranger PHEV is Ford’s Pro Power Onboard system, providing various power outlets for on-the-go energy needs. The XLT variant comes with a range of standard features including halogen headlights, dual-zone climate control, and a 12.0-inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The higher-tier Sport model enhances the offering with LED lighting, wireless phone charging, and an eight-way powered driver seat. Moving up to the Wildtrak brings Matrix LED headlights, a 360-degree camera system, and a premium 10-speaker audio setup. The top-tier Stormtrak edition adds unique styling elements and additional features for a more premium experience.
Customers can choose from a selection of paint colors and various optional packages to further customize their Ranger PHEV. These options include technology upgrades like Pro Trailer back-up assist and adventure-focused add-ons such as cargo management systems. Ford Australia’s President and CEO, Andrew Birkic, emphasized that the Ranger PHEV represents the brand’s commitment to offering electrified options in its lineup.
The introduction of the Ranger PHEV marks a significant milestone for Ford, providing an electrified alternative for buyers without compromising on the truck’s core capabilities. As the automotive industry continues to embrace electrification, the Ranger PHEV demonstrates Ford’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of consumers while maintaining the performance and utility expected from a rugged pickup truck.
Looking ahead, Ford plans to expand its commercial EV offerings with models like the E-Transit Custom and Transit Custom PHEV, further solidifying its position in the electric vehicle market. With the Ranger PHEV leading the charge, Ford is poised to cater to a growing segment of environmentally conscious consumers seeking efficient and capable vehicles for both work and leisure activities.
