Alfa Romeo Australia is set to introduce the 2025 Junior small SUV later this year, aiming to boost the brand’s presence in the Australian market. The new model will compete with the Lexus LBX and is expected to arrive in the third quarter of the year, featuring both a petrol-powered mild-hybrid version called the Ibrida and an all-electric variant known as the Elettrica.
The Ibrida is equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, delivering 100kW/230Nm of power. On the other hand, the Elettrica boasts a single electric motor producing 115kW/260Nm. Both versions will be front-wheel drive and offer a range of features including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED Matrix headlights, and a powered tailgate.
Inside, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Junior will come with a mix of cloth and leatherette trim, power-adjustable front seats, and dual 10.25-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Advanced driver safety systems such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist will also be included.
The Elettrica model will be slightly slower to accelerate compared to the Ibrida but offers a driving range of 407km on a single charge. Fast-charging capabilities will allow the Junior EV to recharge 10-80% of its battery in around 30 minutes. The lineup will offer six exterior color options and pricing details for the Australian market will be revealed closer to the launch date.
Alfa Romeo’s decision to introduce the Junior small SUV comes at a time when the brand is looking to revitalize its sales in Australia. In 2024, the company experienced a decline in sales, prompting the introduction of this new model to attract more customers. The addition of the 2025 Junior to the existing lineup of vehicles is expected to provide consumers with more options in the competitive SUV segment.
Industry experts believe that the launch of the Alfa Romeo Junior could help the brand regain its foothold in the Australian market by offering a smaller, more affordable SUV option. With the growing demand for compact SUVs, Alfa Romeo’s entry into this segment could potentially appeal to a wider range of customers looking for a stylish and practical vehicle.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, manufacturers are focusing on developing electric and hybrid models to meet changing consumer preferences and stricter emission regulations. The introduction of the Elettrica variant in the Alfa Romeo Junior lineup reflects the industry’s shift towards sustainable and eco-friendly mobility solutions.
Overall, the arrival of the 2025 Alfa Romeo Junior small SUV in Australia signifies the brand’s commitment to expanding its product range and catering to the diverse needs of customers in the market. With its blend of style, performance, and advanced features, the Junior is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive SUV segment and contribute to Alfa Romeo’s future success in the region.
