LDV is set to introduce the Terron 9 utility vehicle in Australia, with both diesel and battery electric variants planned for an early 2025 release. The Terron 9 will succeed the T60 model and is designed to offer electric performance and intelligent 4WD technology, as indicated by official documents.
The diesel version of the Terron 9 will be powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 164kW, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the electric eTerron 9 will come with either a single 200kW or dual 325kW electric motors, offering a range of 430km from a 102kWh battery and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.8 seconds.
Both the diesel and electric variants of the LDV Terron 9 will be available in rear- and four-wheel drive configurations. The vehicle will have larger dimensions compared to its predecessor, the T60, measuring 5500mm in length, 1997mm in width, 1860mm in height, and riding on a 3300mm wheelbase.
The LDV eTerron 9 will be positioned against popular rivals like the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux, offering ground clearance of 230mm for the battery electric version and 220mm for the diesel variant. The vehicle will also boast a braked towing capacity of 3500kg and a payload capacity of 620kg, with the option to extend the load bay by removing the rear firewall.
Additional features of the LDV Terron 9 include a 236-liter ‘frunk,’ 18- and 20-inch wheel options, and a six-mode terrain management system available in other markets. These features suggest that the vehicle will cater to a wide range of preferences and requirements.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve towards electric mobility and advanced technologies, the introduction of the LDV Terron 9 signifies a significant step forward for LDV in the competitive utility vehicle segment. With its blend of diesel and electric powertrains, along with modern features and ample space, the Terron 9 is poised to make a mark in the Australian market upon its arrival in 2025.
