Mini Australia recently revealed pricing details for the upcoming all-electric Mini John Cooper Works and John Cooper Works Aceman models, set to hit the Australian market in the first quarter of 2025. Priced at $63,990 and $65,990, respectively, these electric vehicles were showcased at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, underscoring the swift transition of electric cars into the Australian automotive landscape.
Both the John Cooper Works and JCW Aceman feature distinctive John Cooper Works design elements and are powered by a front electric motor delivering 190kW and 350Nm of torque. The three-door JCW accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the JCW Aceman achieves the same in 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 200km/h.
Equipped with a 54.2kWh battery, the JCW offers a range of up to 371 kilometers (WLTP), while the JCW Aceman provides up to 355 kilometers on a single charge. These models blend the iconic driving experience of John Cooper Works Minis with the instant power delivery of electric propulsion for an exhilarating driving experience.
Alexander Brockhoff, Mini Australia & New Zealand’s general manager, expressed excitement about the fusion of John Cooper Works’ driving dynamics with electric power, stating that these additions combine the classic road feel of John Cooper Works with the instantaneous response of electric vehicles for maximum driving enjoyment.
Rooted in the legacy of the classic Mini developed by John Cooper over sixty years ago, the John Cooper Works models incorporate racing-inspired features. The innovative “go-kart mode” function, activated by a boost paddle on the steering wheel, provides an extra 20kW of electric power for enhanced acceleration and overtaking maneuvers.
Distinctive design elements such as the JCW branding, red, white, and black accents, and signature daytime running lights underscore the John Cooper Works identity both inside and outside the vehicles. Furthermore, John Cooper Works-specific suspension settings enhance the go-kart driving sensation and ensure agile handling on the road.
Renowned journalist Joshua S. Hill, with over 15 years of experience in climate change, clean technology, and electric vehicles reporting, lauds the introduction of these electrified John Cooper Works models. Hill’s work has been featured in publications like Renew Economy and The Driven, where he has extensively covered electric vehicles and sustainable technologies.
