The event featured a diverse mix of elite street machines, hot rods, and bikes, alongside a curated collection of vintage rods and customs in Nostalgia Lane, overseen by Andy Colalillo.
Among the standout cars at the Expo was Ted and Carol Wrigg’s ‘Salt Flyer’ ’34 Ford, exuding traditional salt-racer styling with a 401ci Buick ‘nailhead’ engine. Craig Goodshaw’s ‘Reverence’ ’69 Camaro, a 13-year labor of love, impressed with pro touring enhancements and a Whipple-blown 502 engine.
Richy Old Dog’s ’39 Ford pick-up, a creation by Image Vehicle Manufacturing, turned heads with its 1000hp, Harrop-blown LS engine and striking PPG Graphite Grey satin paint. Greg Douglas transformed a paddock-find ’55 F100 into a 460hp Coyote-powered beast, showcasing Andy’s Restorations’ craftsmanship.
Phil Stelling’s ’35 Ford coupe, built by Deluxe Rod Shop, boasted a classic 60s rod style with a 350ci Chev engine. John Bennett’s radical 1928 Ford tudor, crafted by Maskell Customs & Classics, featured copper accents and a V12 engine, while Paul Johnston’s VKBOSS paid tribute to the Blue Meanie with a 355ci Holden stroker.
Warhorse Motorsport’s ’57 Buick caught attention with its unique lime-green, Harrop-blown LS3 engine and 22-inch Budnik E85 rims. Rob Downing’s ‘Bugin,’ a radical ’63 Volkswagen Beetle by Custom Dream Industries, showcased meticulous modifications and a built 2276cc stroker engine.
Darren & Deb Cahill’s 1949 Chev panel truck made a remarkable 2000km journey to the Expo, powered by a twin-turbo LS setup. Misled Youth’s jalopies and Jason and Sharon Xuerub’s Ford Galaxie and Thunderbolt Fairlane added variety to the impressive lineup.
Simon Adrichem’s ‘Mr Shifter’ FX, a race-proven gasser with a 468ci big-block Chev engine, impressed with its performance credentials. Jeremy Guljas’s HG Premier, featuring bespoke fab work and a Dandy-built 540ci big-block Chev, exuded elegance with silver paint and tan trim.
Jed Coinu’s ’67 Chevy camper-back, sourced from the California desert, completed a 12-hour drive to the Expo, showcasing a small-block Chev powertrain. Additionally, the Peterbilt truck and Rod and Carol Hadfield’s twin-blown 429ci Model T received honorable mentions for their exceptional craftsmanship and unique features.
The 2025 Sydney Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo once again affirmed its status as a premier car show, celebrating automotive artistry and craftsmanship amidst a backdrop of rich car culture and enthusiast camaraderie.
