Chery’s E5 electric small SUV in Australia has undergone a transformation, now known as the 2025 Chery E5 with significant price reductions of up to $3000. The vehicle, previously named Omoda E5, has been rebranded with Chery insignia, marking a strategic shift in the company’s lineup. This move aligns with Chery’s plans to introduce future Omoda models under a distinct brand, separate from its core offerings.
The E5’s lineup has been revamped for the 2025 model year, with the entry-level BX now named Urban and the top-tier EX renamed to Ultimate. These changes bring the electric SUV in line with its petrol counterpart, the Chery C5, emphasizing a cohesive branding strategy across the range. Noteworthy alterations include the removal of built-in satellite navigation and puddle lamps in certain variants, although Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality remain standard.
Chery has adjusted the pricing of the E5 lineup, with the Urban model now starting at $39,990 before on-road costs, reflecting a $3000 reduction from its predecessor. Customers can currently avail themselves of drive-away offers, making the vehicle even more accessible. The flagship Ultimate variant, priced at $43,990 before on-road costs, has also seen a $2000 price decrease compared to the outgoing model, enhancing its value proposition.
Under the hood, the 2025 Chery E5 retains its 150kW/340Nm front electric motor and a 61.1kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack, delivering a driving range of up to 430 kilometers. While there are no immediate plans to expand Chery’s electric vehicle portfolio beyond the E5, the company is gearing up to introduce hybrid versions of its Tiggo range in the near future.
Chery’s strategic realignment includes the introduction of separate dealer networks for Omoda and Jaecoo models in Australia, laying the groundwork for a diversified product lineup. The anticipated launch of Omoda 3 and Omoda 7 SUVs alongside the E5 underscores Chery’s commitment to catering to evolving consumer preferences and market demands.
With competitive pricing and enhanced features, the 2025 Chery E5 is positioned to appeal to environmentally conscious consumers seeking a blend of performance, technology, and affordability in the electric SUV segment. The vehicle’s updated branding and pricing strategy reflect Chery’s proactive approach to staying relevant in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
