Toyota India is set to unveil the ninth-generation Camry on December 11, announcing its prices for the Indian market. This new sedan, which made its global debut in late 2023, comes with a fresh design, enhanced features, and will be powered solely by a petrol-hybrid engine. This launch marks the replacement of the previous model, available in India since 2019 and receiving an update in 2022.
The latest Camry retains the TNGA-K platform of its predecessor while showcasing a new exterior design. It features a slightly longer body with modern styling cues, resembling Lexus models, particularly in the front design. The car boasts compact LED headlights and sleek ‘C’-shaped taillights, adding a touch of sophistication to its appearance.
Inside, the new Camry offers a revamped interior layout with a dual-screen setup comprising a 7-inch instrument display and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Expected tech features include a JBL sound system, heads-up display, and digital key, catering to the comfort and convenience of chauffeur-driven buyers, especially in markets like India. The rear seats offer reclining options, ventilation, and easy access to controls.
Under the hood, the ninth-gen Camry houses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 227hp. Its hybrid powertrain is mated to an eCVT gearbox, promising improved efficiency with an expected mileage of around 25kpl, a significant upgrade from its predecessor.
Toyota plans to assemble the new Camry locally at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka, utilizing imported kits. While the official pricing will be disclosed in December, deliveries are slated to commence in the following year. The vehicle will also make an appearance at the Bharat Mobility show in January, showcasing its advanced features and design to the public.
Industry experts view the launch of the Toyota Camry XV80 in India as a strategic move by the automaker to cater to the evolving demands of the market. With a focus on hybrid technology and enhanced features, the new Camry aims to appeal to discerning customers seeking luxury, comfort, and eco-friendliness in their driving experience.
As the automotive industry continues to embrace sustainability and technological advancements, Toyota’s commitment to offering hybrid options like the Camry XV80 reflects a broader trend towards eco-conscious mobility solutions. The integration of cutting-edge features and improved efficiency in the new Camry underscores the brand’s dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction.
