ProFlo Performance has taken the pro street game to a whole new level with their latest creation, a 1969 Holden HT ute powered by a massive 768ci Sonny’s Racing Engines. This beast of a machine is not your typical street car; it’s a show-stopping masterpiece that pushes the boundaries of excess in the automotive world.
The ute’s bodywork has been meticulously crafted with custom touches and upgrades, showcasing a Kashmir White paint job that exudes elegance and power. ProFlo didn’t just stop at aesthetics; they redefined the chassis to accommodate custom 20×5.5 front and 24×15 rear wheels, setting a new standard for the pro street look.
When it comes to the heart of this beast, there’s no small-block or big-block engine here. Instead, a monstrous 768 cubic inches of Sonny Leonard mountain motor roars under the hood. The sheer size of this engine required extensive metalwork to fit into the first-generation Kingswood ute, but ProFlo’s expertise made it happen seamlessly.
Paul Sant, the mind behind ProFlo’s creations, shared that the customer brought in a mint, stock-standard car which was then transformed into this powerhouse. With a focus on both performance and aesthetics, every detail of the ute was meticulously designed to create a unique and jaw-dropping vehicle.
Underneath the sleek exterior lies a Castlemaine Rod Shop independent front end, a custom transmission setup, and a ProFlo-designed rear end featuring a parallel four-link system. The rear of the car underwent a complete rebuild to ensure it could handle the power and performance of the massive engine.
The engine bay is a work of art in itself, housing a Sonny’s Racing Engines 768ci V8 that produces around 1500hp. Controlled by a FuelTech FT600 ECU and running on E85 fuel, this engine is a marvel of engineering, with custom components and a five-stage dry sump setup ensuring optimal performance.
Inside the ute, the cabin is a blend of simplicity and functionality, with GTS accessories and a clean design that reflects the vehicle’s street and event-focused purpose. The attention to detail extends to every aspect of the build, from the custom 2.5-inch primaries to the 3.5-inch twin exhaust system.
Sonny’s Racing Engines has a storied history in the world of drag racing, known for pushing the limits of engine design and performance. The legacy of Sonny Leonard lives on in creations like this 768ci V8, which embodies the spirit of innovation and power that defines the brand.
ProFlo Performance’s 1969 Holden HT ute is more than just a car; it’s a testament to the artistry and engineering prowess of the team behind it. With a blend of cutting-edge technology and old-school craftsmanship, this street machine is a true work of automotive art that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in the world of custom builds.
