Power Up: Nanango Car Show Drives Community Support

The Nanango Car Show, known as Power Up, recently revved up the community spirit with an impressive display of classic vehicles, bikes, and caravans. Hosted as a fundraiser by the Nanango Sporting Association, the event drew a diverse range of vehicles to the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street. Among the groups benefiting from this initiative were the Nanango Kennel Club, Nanango Cricket Club, and Nanango Panthers Soccer Club.

Attendees were treated to live music by local artist Morgan and had the chance to vote for their favorite vehicles, with the prestigious “Best In Show” trophy going to Graeme Williams for his 1959 green Chevrolet. The top 10 vehicles were also recognized with trophies, showcasing a mix of iconic models such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Holden Torana, and Ford Mustang.

In addition to celebrating automotive excellence, the event recognized community participation by awarding a prize to the most popular community stall, which was won by the Nanango Community Centre. The South Burnett Mayor and council members were on hand to present the awards, emphasizing the show’s significance in promoting community engagement and local support.

The Nanango Car Show not only provided a platform for car enthusiasts to showcase their prized possessions but also served as a testament to the town’s vibrant community spirit. From vintage classics to modern marvels, the event highlighted the rich automotive heritage and passion for cars in Australia.

The success of the Power Up Show, Shine, and Swap Meet underscored the importance of such events in bringing people together, fostering community ties, and supporting local initiatives. As classic car enthusiasts and spectators mingled against the backdrop of roaring engines and gleaming chrome, the Nanango Car Show proved to be more than just a display of vehicles; it was a celebration of shared interests and collective pride.

With the Nanango Sporting Association at the helm, the annual car show has become a cornerstone of community engagement, uniting residents and visitors in a common celebration of automotive culture. As the engines roared and the trophies gleamed under the Queensland sun, the Nanango Car Show once again showcased the power of passion, camaraderie, and support that drives the Australian car show scene.
