Michael Moit’s iconic WOG-007 Cortina, a cornerstone in the Moits Racing legacy, has made a triumphant return. The roots of Moits Racing stretch back to the early 80s, with the legendary ‘WOG-007’ TD Cortina driven by Michael Moit. Initially purchased in 1981, the Cortina underwent significant modifications, including fitting a V8 engine by Bob Pinnell, propelling it to drag racing fame with wheelstands at Oran Park.
The car’s evolution continued with a rebuild featuring a Windsor SVO-block bottom end with Cleveland heads, elevating its performance to 8.40@155mph. The recent makeover, overseen by Glenn Davies at Moits Motorcars, paid homage to the car’s history while incorporating modern upgrades. The Cortina, sporting 18in forged Simmons B45s, retained its iconic ‘Moits Orange’ paint scheme and blacked-out bumpers.
Glenn Davies highlighted the nostalgic significance of the WOG-007 within the street/strip community of the 80s and 90s. The recent rebuild integrated cutting-edge technology, including the Haltech Nexus R5 ECU, seamlessly blending performance and aesthetics. The twin-turbo setup, meticulously engineered by Glenn and his team, transformed the Cortina into a modern powerhouse.
The intricate details of the rebuild showcased expert craftsmanship, with custom intercooler water tanks, a functional louvred firewall, and a meticulously designed turbo system. The integration of the Haltech ECU and Hypertune components optimized performance and control, ensuring the car’s reliability and power output.
Michael Moit’s passion for driving was reignited with the Cortina’s revival, emphasizing its dual identity as both a high-performance machine and a street-legal cruiser. The car’s enhanced drivability, courtesy of the Haltech system, offered a smoother and more refined experience on the road.
Glenn’s team’s dedication to perfection was evident in every aspect of the rebuild, from the streamlined engine bay layout to the precision-engineered turbo system.
