Kia has recently unveiled its latest models, the Ceed GT hatch and Proceed GT shooting brake, set to make their debut at the upcoming Paris motor show. While not direct competitors to the Hyundai i30 N, the Ceed GT offers a closer match to the Hyundai i30 SR. The sleek wagon-like Proceed is designed exclusively for Europe and features unique styling elements like larger alloy wheels, distinctive bumpers, and a full-width LED taillight.
The Ceed GT, tailored for European markets, boasts a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 150kW and 265Nm, available with manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission options. This model, overseen by former BMW M Division chief Albert Biermann, emphasizes enhanced agility and performance, with a lowered ride height, larger ventilated discs, and sporty design elements like a unique front bumper and black accents.
Inside the Ceed GT, black leather suede sports seats, red stitching, and a sporty steering wheel create a dynamic driving environment. Kia Europe’s COO, Emilio Herrera, highlights the model’s blend of performance and usability, emphasizing agility, grip, and turbocharged power tailored to European preferences.
While the Proceed GT is not slated for the Australian market, Kia Australia is gearing up to introduce the Cerato GT, expected to feature a similar turbocharged driveline as the Ceed GT. This move aligns with Kia’s commitment to offering performance-oriented options in its lineup, catering to a diverse range of driving preferences.
With the unveiling of the K3 GT hatchback in Kia’s home market, the brand continues to expand its performance offerings, showcasing a commitment to innovation and meeting consumer demands. The upcoming Cerato GT is poised to bring a similar level of turbocharged power and driving excitement to Australian drivers, building on Kia’s reputation for delivering quality and performance.
As Kia continues to evolve and introduce new models to the market, the Ceed GT and Proceed GT represent the brand’s dedication to blending performance, style, and functionality. With a focus on European markets, these models offer a glimpse into Kia’s future direction, showcasing a harmonious balance of power, design, and driving dynamics.
