Jeep is on a mission to launch its latest electric SUV, the Recon EV, inspired by the iconic Wrangler. The brand is accelerating Recon EV production, gearing up for its imminent release. The Recon, introduced in 2022 as part of Jeep’s strategy to dominate the electrified SUV market, will join the global stage alongside the Wagoneer S.
Designed as a genuine off-road electric SUV, the Recon embodies the essence of a Jeep 4×4, catering to adventure enthusiasts seeking silent exploration. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Wrangler, the Recon promises features like removable windows and doors, mirroring the iconic off-roader’s versatility.
Anticipated for a swift rollout, Jeep is reportedly expediting Recon EV production, setting the stage for a February 24, 2025 debut according to sources at Stellantis’ Mexican assembly plant. The brand’s proactive approach follows the recent launches of the Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona, signaling a seamless transition for the Recon EV.
Before its official debut, camouflaged prototypes of the rugged SUV have been spotted undergoing public testing, hinting at a potential range of around 300 miles. The Recon EV, like its predecessor Wagoneer S, will leverage Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, offering robust performance and efficiency.
Equipped with Jeep’s signature Selec-Terrain system and standard four-wheel drive, the Recon is poised to deliver between 450 to 600 horsepower through dual EDMs. The lineup will comprise three trims: Willys, Overland, and the rugged Moab model, catering to a diverse range of off-road enthusiasts.
With leaked images hinting at its design, the Recon EV’s rugged exterior draws parallels to the Ford Bronco, signaling a competitive stance in the electric SUV market. While pricing and detailed specifications are yet to be unveiled, the Recon EV is expected to start at approximately $60,000, with premium trims like the Moab possibly reaching $80,000.
Stellantis plans to launch the Recon EV in various global markets, including the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, aligning with the brand’s vision to lead the electrified SUV segment. As anticipation builds for the Wrangler-inspired Recon, consumers await its arrival and weigh in on the prospect of owning a cutting-edge electric SUV from Jeep.
