Looking ahead, N Management Group’s vice president Joon Park revealed that Hyundai N’s future models will not be limited to electric or petrol-only options, with hybrids now being considered. Park emphasized the brand’s focus on creating vehicles that are lighter, more agile, nimble, and exciting, with unique characteristics for hybrid systems to enhance power delivery.
Despite Park’s emphasis on performance-oriented attributes, reports suggest that Hyundai is gearing up to launch a Tucson N model alongside the next-generation Tucson expected in 2027. This move marks a departure from the traditional perception of SUVs, known more for utility than sportiness.
While SUVs may not be the typical choice for performance vehicles, Hyundai has dabbled in this segment with models like the Ioniq 5 N and the Kona N. The potential powertrain for the Tucson N could involve a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a hybrid system, possibly including an electric motor for all-wheel drive capabilities.
