HRT, a German privateer GT team, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with Ford Performance for the upcoming 2025 season. This collaboration marks a significant shift as HRT transitions from its current Mercedes-AMG affiliation to embrace the Ford Performance Mustang GT3. The Mustang GT3 is set to compete in various prestigious European series, including DTM, NLS, and the Nürburgring 24 Hours, under the banner of “HRT Ford Performance.”
The decision to team up with Ford signifies a new chapter for HRT, known for its past successes in motorsport, including clinching the 2021 DTM Drivers’ Championship and the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe title. By joining forces with Ford Performance, HRT aims to elevate its racing endeavors to new heights. The Mustang GT3 will not only participate in the ADAC GT Masters but will also feature in the SRO-sanctioned Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and Sprint Cup series.
A highlight of this collaboration is the Mustang GT3’s debut at the ADAC RAVENOL 24 hours Nürburgring next year. This addition to the 2025 racing program ensures the Mustang GT3’s presence in major 24-hour races, including the Rolex 24, Le Mans 24 Hours, and Spa 24. The involvement of Multimatic and Proton Competition in these programs further solidifies Ford’s position in GT3 racing on a global scale.
Mark Rushbrook, the global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming HRT into the Ford Performance family. He emphasized HRT’s impressive track record in motorsport and highlighted the alignment of values between HRT and Ford. Ulrich Fritz, Managing Director of Haupt Racing Team GmbH, reciprocated the excitement, emphasizing the honor of being chosen by Ford as its European spearhead.
