HRT Ford Performance has unveiled its ambitious plans for the upcoming Nürburgring 24, announcing a three-car entry featuring Ford Mustang GT3s. This marks the team’s debut at the Eifel endurance classic, aiming to break Ford’s long-standing victory drought at the event.
The squad will field a talented lineup of eleven drivers, including two former N24 champions, across the three cars, all equipped with Yokohama tires. The team is gearing up for the second round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge season, scheduled later this month.
Among the drivers is Frank Stippler, who clinched victory in the previous year’s edition with Scherer Sport PHX. Stippler will share driving duties in the No. 64 car with Arjun Maini, Dennis Olsen, and Jusuf Owega, all of whom are part of the Ford Performance factory driver lineup.
Owega will have a busy schedule, as he is set to drive two cars during the event. In addition to the No. 64 car, he will also pilot the No. 65 machine alongside Dennis Fetzer, David Schumacher, and his brother Salman, a promising junior driver within Ford Performance.
The third car, the No. 63 Ford, will feature 2004 N24 winner Dirk Mueller, who continues his association with Multimatic. Mueller will be joined by team owner Haupt and Nordschleife regulars Patrick Assenheimer and Vincent Kolb.
Ford’s return to the SP9 category at N24 is significant, especially considering its absence from this class since 2009. While Ford has participated in lower categories in recent years, the last time the brand competed in SP9, it was with a Ford GT entry by Raeder Automotive, which started from pole position but did not finish the race.
The Nürburgring 24 has a rich history, attracting top teams and drivers from around the world. Ford’s renewed focus on this prestigious event reflects the brand’s commitment to endurance racing and its desire to add another victory to its illustrious record.
As the countdown to the Nürburgring 24 continues, fans and competitors alike are eager to see how HRT Ford Performance’s three-car assault will fare against a competitive field. The event promises high-octane action and intense battles as teams vie for glory on the challenging Nordschleife circuit.
With Ford’s legacy at stake and a strong driver lineup in place, all eyes will be on HRT Ford Performance as they aim to make a memorable debut at the Nürburgring 24 and write a new chapter in Ford’s motorsport history.
