German privateer GT outfit Haupt Racing Team has announced a new partnership with Ford Performance for the upcoming 2025 season. This collaboration will see HRT switching from Mercedes-AMG to compete with the Ford Mustang GT3 across various European series, including DTM, NLS, and the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Under the banner of “HRT Ford Performance,” the team will also participate in ADAC GT Masters and the SRO-sanctioned Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and Sprint Cup series. A significant highlight of this alliance is the Mustang GT3’s debut at the ADAC RAVENOL 24 hours Nürburgring next June.
The inclusion of the Nürburgring 24 Hours in the Mustang GT3’s 2025 schedule adds to its presence at other major 24-hour races, such as the Rolex 24, Le Mans 24 Hours, and Spa 24. These programs will be managed by Multimatic and Proton Competition, expanding the car’s reach in competitive racing.
Mark Rushbrook, the global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, expressed enthusiasm about HRT joining the Ford Performance family. He highlighted HRT’s successful track record in DTM and GT racing, citing their achievements in the 2021 DTM Drivers’ Championship and the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe title.
Rushbrook emphasized the significance of this partnership in strengthening Ford’s position in GT3 racing globally. He mentioned that alongside partners Multimatic and Proton Competition, the Mustang GT3 will now compete across iconic circuits at renowned 24-hour races, fostering growth and expanding the Mustang racing program in 2025.
