The anticipation for the Motorclassica car show in Melbourne came to a sudden halt as the event stands canceled for 2023. Despite its successful return last year following pandemic-related delays, car enthusiasts will have to wait longer to immerse themselves in a display of vintage, classic, and modern cars at the Royal Exhibition Building.
Scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 9, the 2023 edition of Motorclassica was eagerly awaited by many. However, a brief statement posted on Facebook by the show’s organizers announced the unfortunate cancellation without providing a specific reason for the decision.
Last year’s Motorclassica event showcased a remarkable collection of rare and prestigious cars, including the likes of a 2023 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, 1994 Bugatti EB110 Super Sport, 2014 McLaren P1, and a 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III, which claimed the “Australian Classics 1950-1980” award. BMW also teased its BMW XM super SUV, M3 Touring performance wagon, and the new M2 sports coupe behind closed doors, adding to the excitement of the event.
As car enthusiasts and exhibitors alike lament the cancellation of Motorclassica 2023, the show’s absence serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of event planning. The decision underscores the challenges faced by organizers in ensuring the smooth execution of large-scale car shows in Australia, further highlighting the significance and impact of such events on the automotive community.
