BMW has officially announced the local pricing and specifications for the new BMW iX model. The updated electric vehicle is set to arrive in Australia by mid-2025, with a starting price of $142,900 plus on-road costs, representing a $6000 increase compared to its predecessor.
The revamped model, the iX xDrive45 M Sport, will be the sole grade available in the Australian market, replacing the previous iX xDrive40 Sport. Notably, BMW Australia has not renewed the iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50 Sport, or iX M60 models.
Key upgrades to the iX xDrive45 M Sport include a 30% increase in the high voltage battery’s energy content to 98.4kWh, boosting the driving range to 602km (WLTP). The DC charging rate has also been enhanced to 175kW, a 25kW improvement from the previous model, while AC recharging remains at up to 22kW.
The power and torque outputs have been elevated to 300kW and 700Nm, respectively, marking a significant increase over the outgoing model. This results in improved acceleration, with the iX now reaching 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
BMW emphasizes that the advancements in battery technology not only enhance range and performance but also contribute to improved vehicle dynamics and handling. The lighter batteries help in weight transfer, further supported by a hydraulic rear axle support bearing for optimized balance between sporty dynamics and ride comfort.
Furthermore, the new iX xDrive45 M Sport features optimized wheel bearings and tires for reduced rolling resistance, coupled with aerodynamically enhanced alloy wheel designs ranging from 21- to 23-inches in diameter.
The 2025 iX xDrive45 M Sport will come equipped with a standard M Sport package, showcasing BMW’s Kidney Iconic Glow illuminated grille alongside various aesthetic enhancements. The vehicle boasts a bold new frontal design, adaptive LED headlights, and prominent vertical reflectors at the rear.
Buyers can choose from a range of metallic finishes and optional extras such as alloy wheels, upholstery choices, Executive package, Integral Active Steering, adaptive air suspension with automatic self-leveling, and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound audio system.
With the introduction of the new BMW iX, the brand continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and luxury offerings. The iX represents a significant step forward in BMW’s electric vehicle lineup, catering to the evolving demands of environmentally conscious consumers seeking high-performance and stylish electric SUVs.
As the automotive industry transitions towards electrification, BMW’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in the advancements showcased in the iX model. With improved range, performance, and design elements, the iX sets a new standard for luxury electric vehicles in the market.
Overall, the BMW iX M60 stands as a testament to BMW’s dedication to combining cutting-edge technology with sophisticated design, offering a compelling option for discerning consumers looking for a premium electric SUV experience.
