Having had a history with the vehicle since his teenage years, when it passed through his father’s dealership in Boort, Central Victoria, the GT left an indelible mark on him. Despite losing sight of the car for many years, Cockles eventually rediscovered it in a dilapidated state, prompting him to embark on a journey of restoration.
His dedication and love for the GT are evident in the meticulous restoration he undertook, reviving the car to its former glory. Cockles’ emotional attachment to the vehicle is further highlighted by a unique detail – an old tachometer revolution counter with the word ‘help’ inscribed on it, a relic from his youth that holds sentimental value.
