The 2025 Melbourne Motor Show is set to make a grand return after a hiatus of nearly 15 years, promising an exciting lineup of new vehicles from 23 top manufacturers. Among the confirmed attendees are well-known brands such as Kia, Isuzu Ute, Porsche, Tesla, MG, GWM, and Subaru. Additionally, the event will feature new entrants to the Australian market, including brands from China like Deepal, Farizon, Foton, Geely, JAC, Leapmotor, Smart, Xpeng, and Zeekr.
Peugeot, represented by its Inchcape distributor, will showcase its range alongside Mahindra and Brabus, known for customizing vehicles from luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. While Mitsubishi was initially announced as a participant, it has been omitted from the final list. Organizers have teased the unveiling of “nine new cars” at the show, with potential highlights including the 2025 Kia Tasman ute and various electric models like the EV3, EV5, facelifted EV6, and EV9.
The event, scheduled for April 5th and 6th, 2025 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, will not only feature vehicles but also host 87 aftermarket exhibitors, including names like Hot Wheels, Lego, and Red Bull. Craig Phinn, the show’s director, brings his expertise from organizing other automotive events in Melbourne, marking a significant revival of the Melbourne Motor Show, last held in 2009.
Historically, the Melbourne Motor Show traces its roots back to 1925, organized by the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC). In the past, the show alternated between Melbourne and Sydney under the ‘Australian International Motor Show’ banner before its discontinuation in 2012. The upcoming 2025 edition signifies a rejuvenation of the automotive showcase landscape in Melbourne.
With the anticipation building up for the Melbourne Motor Show, car enthusiasts can look forward to an array of cutting-edge vehicles and innovative displays. The event aims to reignite the excitement and glamour associated with traditional motor shows, offering a platform for manufacturers to unveil their latest creations and engage with a diverse audience. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the Melbourne Motor Show stands out as a testament to the enduring allure of car exhibitions, bringing together industry players, enthusiasts, and curious onlookers for a memorable showcase of automotive excellence.
