Mercedes-Benz is expanding its Edition R special editions to include the A35 and CLA35, as well as the A45 hatch and CLA45. These models receive appearance enhancements and additional features that were previously optional.
The A35 and CLA35 Edition R models come with 19-inch AMG black alloy wheels, red brake calipers, faux leather and microfibre upholstery with red topstitching, and aluminium trip panels. They also feature an AMG Aerodynamics package that includes a larger front splitter, front bumper flics, and a rear diffuser blade in gloss black. The A35 Edition R hatch adds a rear wing, while the A-Class sedan and CLA add a low-profile rear lip spoiler.
Under the hood, the A35 and CLA35 Edition R models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 225kW and 400Nm. They come with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard.
Pricing for the A35 Edition R hatch starts at $86,200, while the A35 Edition R sedan is priced from $87,200. The CLA45 Edition R starts from $97,700, excluding on-road costs. Compared to the standard models, the A35 Edition R hatch is $3500 cheaper than the regular A35, while the A35 sedan and CLA35 have no price change.
The A45 S hatch and CLA45 S Edition R upgrades include AMG performance seats and a high-rise rear spoiler on the CLA45, in addition to the features found in the 35 models. The drivetrain remains unchanged, featuring a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 310kW and 500Nm, coupled with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
The Edition R+ package brings the starting price of an A45 S hatch to $122,500 and the CLA45 to $129,300 before on-road costs, matching the pricing of the regular A45 and CLA45. Customers can now order the Edition R and Edition R+ models at Mercedes-Benz dealers across Australia.
Mercedes-Benz’s decision to extend the Edition R special editions to its compact models reflects the brand’s commitment to offering exclusive and premium options to its customers. By enhancing the appearance and features of these vehicles, Mercedes aims to cater to drivers seeking a blend of luxury and performance in their cars.
With the Edition R and Edition R+ models now available, Mercedes-Benz continues to showcase its expertise in creating high-performance vehicles that combine cutting-edge technology with elegant design. These special editions are expected to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a unique driving experience that combines luxury, style, and power.
