Over 100 employees gathered in Clayton to mark the milestone occasion, celebrating the final right-hand drive conversion of a 1500 Limited model in Granite Crystal paint.
General Manager Jeff Barber expressed that while the iconic Hemi V8 era was ending, the Ram 1500 had resonated with Australian customers who valued its space, comfort, and towing capabilities.
The transition to a new turbocharged six-cylinder engine next year has generated significant interest from buyers seeking to secure one of the last remaining V8 models before they are phased out.
While the final Hemi V8-powered 1500 is yet to be assigned to a dealership, Ram Trucks Australia plans to distribute it anonymously to one of its 70 locations across Australia and New Zealand.
Since December 2015, the company has been converting left-hand drive US pick-ups to right-hand drive in Melbourne, a meticulous process that involves fitting over 400 locally-engineered parts to each vehicle.
Each remanufacturing cycle, which takes approximately 14 hours with the effort of more than 200 workers, ensures that the vehicles meet factory quality and safety standards before reaching dealerships.
Looking ahead, Ram Trucks Australia will introduce a new-generation turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine to power the Ram 1500, promising a worthy successor to the iconic Hemi V8 models.
