The 2025 Kia EV4 has officially been confirmed for the Australian market, following its global debut as part of the 2025 Kia EV Day program. The electric sedan, equipped with a 400V e-GMP architecture similar to the EV3 compact SUV, boasts impressive features.
Offering a choice between a 58.3kWh ‘standard range’ or 81.4kWh ‘long range’ lithium-ion battery pack, the EV4 is powered by a 150kW motor on the front axle. This setup enables acceleration from 0-100km/h in 7.4 to 7.7 seconds, with a top speed of 170km/h.
With a range of up to 630km on a single charge, the EV4 sets a new standard in its class. The sedan variant can cover up to 430km on the WLTP cycle, while the hatchback model offers a slightly lower range due to its aerodynamics.
Charging the battery packs from 10-80% is claimed to take just 31 minutes using a DC fast charger, and the on-board AC unit supports single- and three-phase charging at up to 11kW. Moreover, all EV4 models feature vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-grid functionality.
The interior of the EV4 mirrors the design of the EV3, with a focus on user-friendly features. Notable highlights include dual 12.3-inch displays, a 5.3-inch climate control interface, physical fan and temperature controls, and integrated infotainment shortcut buttons.
On the technological front, the EV4 is equipped with the latest ‘connected car Navigation Cockpit’ system, offering over-the-air updates, wireless smartphone projection, sat-nav, personalization options, streaming services, and real-time traffic updates. Kia Connect connectivity is also a standard feature.
Driving aids include Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0 system, highway driving assist, driver attention warning, forward collision avoidance, lane following assist, intelligent speed limit assist, remote parking assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
While Kia Australia is yet to confirm local pricing and specifications for the EV4, industry experts anticipate a starting price around $50,000. This pricing strategy aligns with the trend within the Hyundai Motor Group, where electric passenger models are priced higher than their SUV counterparts due to their extended driving ranges.
With the EV4 poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market, consumers can expect a blend of performance, range, and advanced technology in this upcoming Kia model.
