Chery is set to introduce a new model, the C5, as it rebrands its existing Omoda 5 SUV. Priced from $29,990 drive-away, the Chery C5 will come in two trim levels – Urban and Ultimate, each offering a range of features. The Urban variant includes 17-inch alloy wheels, dual 10.25-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a suite of driver assistance systems. Moving up to the Ultimate trim at $34,990 drive-away adds features like 18-inch alloy wheels, a premium audio system, powered tailgate, and a 360-degree camera system.
The C5 brings mechanical enhancements such as a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and multi-link rear suspension, offering a smoother driving experience compared to its predecessor. The exterior sees updates like LED headlights and a restyled grille, while the interior boasts ambient lighting and increased cargo space of 370 litres.
Lucas Harris, Chery Australia’s chief operating officer, expressed confidence in the C5, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to delivering value and a top-notch driving experience. The company’s dedication to improving its offerings is evident in the C5’s upgrades and refinements.
Chery’s move to rename the Omoda E5 as ‘E5’ aligns with the new naming convention initiated by the C5. The company’s strategy to streamline its model lineup could facilitate a clearer and more cohesive brand identity for consumers.
With the C5 hitting showrooms this month, Chery continues to back its vehicles with a comprehensive seven-year warranty, capped-price servicing, and roadside assistance package. This customer-centric approach aims to instill confidence in buyers and enhance the overall ownership experience.
Since its launch in 2023, the Chery Omoda 5 has gained popularity in the competitive SUV market, ranking twelfth in sales within its segment. The Small SUV under $45K category is led by the Hyundai Kona, followed closely by competitors like the MG ZS and GWM Haval Jolion. Chery’s presence in this market segment underscores its commitment to meeting consumer demands and competing effectively.
Looking ahead, Chery’s focus on innovation and customer satisfaction is evident in its recent developments, including the introduction of PHEV variants with an impressive 1200km range. The company’s efforts to expand its product range and incorporate advanced technologies reflect the evolving trends in the automotive industry.
As Chery continues to evolve its lineup and enhance its offerings, the brand is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive automotive market. With a strong focus on quality, value, and customer experience, Chery is positioning itself as a key player in the industry, ready to meet the evolving needs of modern consumers.
