Issue 6 - Phil Woodbridge Buick LoSabre
This particular Buick LeSabre was professionally built in the USA and after cleaning up at shows all over the country ended up at the world famous Barrett-Jackson auction where it was bought by Aussie, Phil Woodbridge. Buicks of the late fifties and early sixties aren’t the first choice when most people think of raw material for a show winning custom, but when original owner Dick Uhlenkott spotted the stunning lines of this ’60 LaSabre he couldn’t help himself, he had to have it. Dick is a Chevy guy who owns an impressive 427 powered 1962 Bel Air and couldn’t imagine ever owning another type of car until, in his own words; he saw -
Issue 8 - Kane Harvey's 69 Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger is one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time. Dodge was onto something in 1965 when they took their ‘idea’ car to all the shows to get a feel of the popularity. Dodge’s own Burt Bouwkamp summed it up perfectly when he said ‘We built a Charger "idea" car which we displayed at auto shows in 1965 to stimulate market interest in the concept. It was the approved design but we told the press and auto show attendees that it was just an "idea" and that we would build it if they liked it. It was pre-ordained that they would like it’. How right he was. The Charger has gained an iconic following and with shows like The Dukes of Hazard, the 69 model in particular has become very popular. -
Issue 10 - Ashley Miners Silver WRX STI
Ashley Miners is no stranger to owning sweet looking performance cars. He’s taken home a fair few pieces of tinware from Autosalon events around the country with cars that looked the goods but couldn’t put down the power figures when it came to crunch time. His first attempt at a show car was the ever popular Hyundai Excel. I know what you’re thinking but Excel’s make a great first car and when given the right treatment they can look bloody awesome. This car was good enough to win some trophies and get some magazine coverage as was his second car, a GTIR Nissan Pulsar. He bought the Nissan so he could have a car with show and go and it did real well on the show side of things but was still let down by its lack of power. It was sold to fund his first WRX. His 01 model had a fresh respray and plenty of bolt-ons so it kept Ashley happy for a year or so until the speed bug bit again, which brings us to this 03 STi WRX.
