Issue 8 - Sean Wielding's LX Torana
People might think we car enthusiasts are nuts and truth be told, some of us are. Sean Wilding is one of the some. This LX Torana has been through countless hours of rebuilding ... TWICE. All the hassle with dodgy contractors and last minute jobs pays off though when you have a car as nice as this. The first rebuild began when he picked up a mate to go for a drive. Hitting a gutter at sixty kmph and bending the sub-frame is a perfect excuse for a rebuild. Sean stripped it and found lots of problems inherited from the previous owner and after many hours or work, a few tantrums and the thought of selling, the car ended up in the shop where Sean worked. He did massive amounts of work to the car here fixing just about every part on the car. He even painted it himself in custom blue. Fast forward a few years to when it was almost complete, Sean found some repairs showing in the paint so took it back to a bare shell again. -
Issue 7 - Stadium Drift Round 2 and 3 2011
ROUND 2 Stanthorpe The Stanthorpe track is very popular with drivers and is rated as the Number One track on the Stadium Drift Tour. Consequently Round 2 featured a huge day of nonstop drift action, with a quality field, and edge of your seat, close battles all day. Dan Kenneally (Hogstar Rockstar Nissan) put in some awesome drives to battle his way to the top spot. The Iceman Nick Coulson (Just Nice Cars Nissan) dealt with the toughest drifters in the series to take second spot on the day from Rob Whyte (Monster / Motul 350Z) and Eugene Arendsen (Tokage Soarer). In the L2 series Levi Clarke in his awesome Skyline took out the day from Todd Dalgleish, Gavin Edwards and the hard drifting Tim Connibear. Thanks to all drivers for a great show. --------------------- ROUND 3 ------------- Round 3 was another action packed day of nonstop drifting at the superb NSW venue Wakefield Park with a good entry line up and fierce battles throughout the day, especially in the finals. The new Pro format which now includes a semi final proved to be a huge success providing the top 8 Pro drivers from the heats a second chance at making the finals. The action provided by this new addition was also a bonus for the very enthusiastic crowd with the pit wall packed with spectators keen to see who was going to make it through; the rule was simple, if you won you stayed out, if you lost, it was back to the pits. The biggest, wildest hit of the day was the high speed slide into the armco by Matt Hambridge (Hi Tech Oils Nissan) as he took the wide line attempting a huge entry into the first turn. Although the car sustained quite a bit of damage Matt did make it back out later in the day. -
Cairns Burnouts 2011
A beautiful sunny day in Cairns at last! So sunny in fact, that it seemed to announce the end to the wet season. All round Cairns it appeared that car clubs were heading for the streets! Many headed to the Speedway track in Edmonton - Pics by Graeme Bint AUTOART PHhotography
